During grade school Susan was always the tallest of anyone. We didn't dare mess with her smiley

By high school she wasn't so tall any more. The last time I saw her about 1968 I didn't recognize her. She had blossomed into a pretty lady.

I thought the world of Susan and she was the Empire State building in Elememtary and Junior High. I met her one time when she worked at a restuarant in later years and asked if she was Susan Allgier and she resonded that she was. I stood up and found I was a head taller than she was. Susan was always nice to everyone. Though tall in stature, she never looked down on anyone. Even greater than her height was her big, infectious smile. The last time I saw her was the summer after graduationfrom Jordan Junior High School. So though I don't know how she and I would have stacked up standing next to each other in high school, she will always be on my fantasy basketball team.

My Dear Susan, a friend to me from 5th grade through our senior year. We did some crazy things back then, like sleeping in Memory Grove in her little bug, making a really HOT spaghetti dinner for two boys we were dating.  We sat on the back porch laughing as they tried to eat it.  I think we put every hot spice in it that we could find in the pantry.

We spent lots of time on her patio dancing and singing together.  In the 9th grade we called the boys coach, who we both thought was really dreamy, and in our most beautiful, sexy southern accents talked with him for several minutes.  Never thought anyone would ever know it was us!  Opps on that as we got chastised the next day at school by Miss Lewis in front of the whole class.  So we moved on and just picked a number from the phone book and this woman answered and we bagan singing, 'If I Loved You' from Carousel. We harmonized beautifully together.  When we finished the woman said with tears that it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her.  We hung up and never did it again.

We also checked out the Ouija board and the results scared us to death.

Once when I was at her house after dark, we saw a man prowling around out side.  We stood and watched him for a while and then he went to the back door.  The back door was about 4 steps down from the kitchen where we were standing.  When he started to mess with the knob and the door began to open, Susan shot down those stairs in one leap, slamming the door shut, scaring the man and he ran away.  Brave girl!

She was always so sweet and we loved each other dearly.  After graduation she lived with me for several months. Then as time goes on and marriages and raising families takes up all our time we lost track of each other.

She loved her VW Bug, unfortunately her life may have been spared if she had been driving a bigger car.

I love you Susan and miss you so much!   Shauna Lee Gray Sargent
