"Mr Clean's three sons"

That's what some scrawny, wimpy California surfer dudes called Kent, Vance and me on our visit to Newport Beach in August 1964. We had just had our heads shaved, the whole team did, to get ready for Football (must focus you know) and were pretty buff having worked out all summer. The Beatles were all over the radio, and TV in prep for a LA visit a week after we were there. A "Hard Day's Night" had just come out.

This is one of hundreds of experiences we had together through our high school years. Going to games, double dating, going to parties, rolling b b gun fight all over Rose Park against Paul Strieff and Billy Miller-- me driving Vance in the back of a borrowed  jeep pick-up shooting them with my b b rifle, visiting Brigitte together, I could almost write a book.

We went our different ways after high school. I understand Vance died suddenly of a heart attack last year, 2014. Certainly a surprise to me and those who knew him.
